Week in PA!

Last week, while my mom was here, she suggested that the kids and I head up for a few days...after thinking about it, it sounded like a good idea.  SOOO we went for it!

I have to document that Keith and I were able to go on a DATE the Thursday after the 4th!!  Yahoo!!  It's nice having Mum-Mum and Pop-Pop here to watch the kiddos :)  We went downtown for dinner and then headed back to Wake Forest for some dessert...we weren't gone long, but it was just so nice to be out together!

Saturday morning my mom and John left early with Landon.  It works out well to leave with him before his morning nap time so that you can catch both naps in the car :)  Keith had signed Reaggie up for soccer, more like a parent and kid let's learn what this game of soccer is all about class.  (AKA...Keith in HEAVEN!)  Reags was SO excited too!

This is the new "pose" :)

I finally ordered her some new sneakers...she really doesn't wear them often, but obviously a three year old needs sneaks, so she calls these her "magic soccer shoes" that help her run really, really fast :)

After they got home from soccer and I heard all about the drills they did and the "goals" Reaggie scored, we hit the road.  I have to say it was a piece of cake having just Reagan.  She watched movies, ate, slept some...other than hitting so much traffic and it taking forever to get to PA, it was a great trip!

Sunday morning I went to get Jamie bright and early. She had NO idea that I was coming up with the kids, so it was VERY fun to surprise her!! I brought her back to my mom's, after a stop at Dunkin' Donuts and McDonalds, and we had a great day hanging out! Gran and Gramps even drove up for the day!
Riding her bike!

Does he look thrilled to be having his picture taken or what?

On Monday I took Reagan to Rehoboth Beach for the day.  (Thank you Mom for watching LTK!)  My dad and Diane were staying at Grandpa's condo, so it worked out great.  We were SOO excited!  (Not so excited when we were using the windshield wipers on the way though...it did clear up though!)

Helping to pass the time on the car ride!

It was still very overcast when we got there, so we headed down to the boardwalk to play some games before lunch

Could not wait to get those tootsies in the sand!

Seriously...hands on the hips?!

These two had SOOO much fun on the beach...oh my word!  We were on the beach for a little over three hours and I don't think they stopped...they had a blast!!

Grandpa kept making Reaggie a mermaid...

This girl had sand EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!

We went back up to the condo around 4ish, as Reags was approaching meltdown mode.  I gave her a quick bath, sat her on the sofa so I could get a bottle of water from the kitchen, came back to the sofa and she was OUT!  haha :)  Of course she was up SUPER early that morning and hadn't taken a nap, so the crash was bound to happen.  Thankfully, after a little coaxing and then her insisting on going out to dinner, she woke up happy!

Tuesday I took no pictures...we wound up taking the kiddos to the park for a bit, (which R decided she had to poop and thankfully we had the portable potty in the car...) the kiddos napped, I went to get J, Heath came over (who is looking SO cute and preggo!), and had dinner.  Nothing too crazy!

On Wednesday Gran and Gramps came down for the day again!

attempting to get the "11 month" picture WAY late!  This was right after a bath with still wet hair and shiny cheeks from aquafor...it will do :)  He's still stinkin' cute!

Poor Gran wrestling with Landon for a snuggle

He would rather eat my lens cap thank you very much

Just hanging out with her new flowers from Gigi and Gramps...

And by now...Landon has had enough!

It was a great trip and I'm so thankful that we were able to do it.  Our trip back was pretty good...it took us about 8 hours.  We hit more traffic than usual, but only (officially) stopped once, for lunch.  I must document a couple "fun" parts of the trip...
* Landon slept ok for his morning nap, woke up happy, but about 30 minutes later starting fussing...we were just past Baltimore which is WAY too early in the trip to be doing that already.  I would hand him back crackers and say "where is your hand" and he would lift up his left hand so I could pop a snack in his hand.  Since he is still rear facing, it is tricky to get the snacks back.  I just kept looking in the mirror and seeing this sweet hand pop up...pretty cute!  I think he literally had about 100 crackers :)
*  Around the time we were going to stop for lunch we hit some traffic and I had to go to the bathroom SOOOO bad, we're talking not even funny at this point.  I was hurting.  SO what else is a mom of two to do?!  Pull over on the side of 95 and use the child sized portable potty.  (not the first time this has happened either...)  Keep in mind the van is full and the potty is at Reagan's feet, so her legs are pretty much wrapped around my neck so that I have room to sit.  Hilarious now...at the time, desperate!  haha!  Good thing I had a blanket over Landon's window to block the sun, and any onlookers ;)
* We stopped at a McDonald's for lunch, after Landon had been SCREAMING for about 10 minutes.  We went in so Reags could go potty.  WHY I didn't just have her use the portable potty is BEYOND me.  I crammed the three of us into the SMALL stall in McDonald's and one handed (since I was holding Landon) plopped her on the potty.  I held her up, with one arm, to wash her hands and wanted to get OUT of there.  We ordered our food, in which I was told I couldn't have a large cup of ice water (which about made me cry at this point) and sat down at a table.  After getting R and L set up with their nuggets (please don't judge) Reagan decided she was too "chilly" to eat.  Seriously?!  (it was cold, but frieckin' eat!)  Back out to the van we went, trying to schlep the food, two kids, 2 cups, and my wallet...we had a little picnic in the van.  We finished, Reags went potty one more time in the portable one this time, and we were off.  Thankfully the rest of the trip, about 2 1/2 more hours, was pretty smooth.  Always an adventure!

Kamp Kepplinger

What do you do on a SUPER hot day when you don't feel like you should take your kids to the pool quite yet after being sick for two weeks?!?!?!  You got it...set up your own "camp" in the backyard!

We set up the water table, the umbrella, our little pool, and the slide for a fun filled morning of outside fun!  Landon man did not have quite as much fun as his sister, but it was so nice to play outside for awhile, even though it was pushing 100*!

Love that tushy!

4th of July!

It's hard to believe the 4th of July has already come and gone...to say ours was an adventure is an understatement...

SOOO after our visit to Urgent Care on Saturday night, things were really looking up.  Everyone seemed to be on the mend....well, Wednesday morning, 4th of July, Reagan woke up crying in pain.  She said her "tushy" hurt REALLY bad.  I tried to get her to go potty, nothing.  Tried to put her in the bath, screamed.  Looked to see if I saw anything, nothing.  All I know is she kept SCREAMING in pain!!  It was terrible.  The pain seemed to be coming and going too...I didn't know what to do!  I waited until a little after 8 to call our pediatrician to see if we could go in, but they were closed for the holiday.  At about 8:20 I decided we were off to Urgent Care to see what was going on.  Keep in mind Reags hadn't gone potty since right before bed the night before...working on a good 12 hours at that point.

Urgent Care did nothing...we tried to get Reags to go potty so they could get a urine sample, but she just couldn't/wouldn't.  She was hurting so bad.  The "doctor" recommended we go to the ER, so that if worse came to worse, they could cath her to not only relieve the pressure, but get a urine sample.

Off we went to the ER and we got checking in a seen right away.  The doctor was a real "gem" (LOTS of scarcasm) and said he had 8 hours to wait to get a urine sample.  (Oh and as he was checking Reagan, he said "you know you can smile"  I wanted to PUNCH him in the face...I said "She is a VERY happy girl, but feels miseralbe right now."  JERK!)  Poor Reags was MISERABLE at this point, although she was being a trooper and they had a Cinderella and Lady and the Tramp book in the room to keep us occupied.  I told the doctor just to cath her so that she had some relief, however he didn't agree with that.  Needless to say about an hour after we got there Reagan just started SCREAMING at the top of her lungs in pain and was peeing...she just couldn't hold it anymore and peed ALL over me, ALL over herself, ALL over the floor.  THANKFULLY three nurses walked in as she was screaming in pain and one put the "sample" cup under her to catch enough for a sample.  Bless my sweet girl's heart...it was awful.  I couldn't do anything but comfort her as best I could and tell her she would feel so much better once she got it all out.  Once she did and we were both covered...she was a new girl.  She seemed to feel SO much better, THANK GOODNESS!!  We got out of our yucky clothes and I got into some nice XXL paper scrubs and Reags just sat naked with her blankey.  I called Keith to come meet us with some snacks for Reagan and clean clothes for both of us.  He finally got there, the TV in the room was plugged in, we found Nick Jr. and all was right in Reaggie's world again.

After, I don't even know how long, we finally got the results back and she had a UTI.  Poor thing!  However, we got a prescription and finally signed the discharge papers and we were on our way home.

As soon as we got home we both bathed/showered as it was TOTALLY necessary and then R took a NICE, LONG nappy.  She was exhausted.  She woke up happy though and we had a delicious dinner, dessert, and saw some great fireworks.  My mom and John came that afternoon, since we weren't in Rochester, so it was nice having them here too...especially after such a LONG day!

Other than the first half of our day, we had a really nice 4th of July!  This also marked Landon man's LAST "first" holiday... :(  How did that happen already?

Seriously...precious!
(Just a side note...this is the outfit Keith put on Landon to come to the hospital.  When they got there I, of course, said in my oh so pathedic I've had it with sick kids mommy voice "but that's not his 4th of July outfit."  I'm ridiculous I know.  However, Keith did think to do the red, white, and blue and I wasn't upset at all to see my little man sporting his Phillies gear ;) )

walking around EVERYWHERE with this thing!

Such the Landon face these days :)

Mommy and my sweet man!

We busted out our tunnel the other day and it was a HIT with Landon and Reagan acted like she had no memory of it.  Super!!  They had a BLAST in it!

Enjoying our YUMMMMMMY dinner!!

Sweet girl...such a yucky day for her, but she was SUCH a trooper!

Movie Star!

Waiting for the fireworks to start...hanging out in the minivan :)  She kept turning the music up louder and louder...keep in mind we were jamming to some "Itsy Bitsy Spider," "Hot Cross Buns," "Humpty Dumpty"...and several other classics :)

Fireworks time!!

SOOOO in case you're remembering an ER trip a couple years ago on 4th of July...that was me.  Two years ago on the 4th.  Lovely.  Also, I was just thinking the other day how we hadn't been to the ER with R in awhile.  We went right after her 1st birthday, last winter with her high fever, last year after her 2nd because of the peanuts, and now, less than a month after her birthday, we were back again.

Today is Friday (which I am SO messed up on my days this week) and we went to the doctor this morning as a follow up and everything seems like it is getting better.  We are SO thankful!

11 Months!

(Our printer is out of ink, ugh!  SOOO no "official" 11 month picture yet!)
Landon man is now 11 months old...next time I write about him he will be ONE?!?!  ONE!!!  Reaggie and I were just talking today about how a year ago at this time Mommy's tummy was REALLY big!  She said, "remember that goopy stuff they put on your belly?!"  ha!  I don't know if she really remembers that or if we have talked about it before, but it was pretty funny.

Oh Mr. Landon...he is just a sweet, sweet BOY!  ALL BOY!  Moms of boys, multiple boys, I love you! :)  haha!  Landon finds EVERYTHING to get into...seriously, there are drawers/cabinets that I don't think Reagan knew existed until Landon showed her :)  He is into it all.  SOO busy all the time.  I adore how he loves to play with his trucks and if a toy has wheels, even if it's pink, he loves to play with it.

He is really standing by himself a LOT these days, which he is so proud of.  In the last week or so he has REALLY started walking along all of the furniture and is pushing everything around the floor to use as a balance for him to walk.  He pushes Reaggie's pink cozie coupe all over the house.  It's pretty cute!  I can't believe he is old enough to be almost walking.

Let's see, he is totally off baby food, and has been for awhile.  He eats pretty much what we give him, but he sure does have an opinon.  If he could eat yogurt melts, puffs, and the little Gerber snacks all day everyday I think he would be a very happy camper.  :)  He does love goldfish, cheese, bologna, ice cream, crackers, grapes, strawberries, and his morning toast.  Those are probably the favorites right now.  Within the last week he has started refusing a bottle too.  I thought at first it was probably because the ulsers hurt him so badly in his throat, but now he still wants nothing to do with it.  I kind of wish he would have given me a warning on that one so I could have enjoyed giving him his last bottle :(  I am happy that it's one less transition to have to worry about though.  I try to give him some formula in a sippy cup a couple times a day and he does okay with that.  I think he still thinks it's weird since he's so used to his water in there.

Landon is starting to "talk" a little more.  He was saying "da-da" to everything, but he is starting to say "ma-ma" more and more when he sees me.  It's precious and I love it.  :)  He also is big into "uh-ah" when he drops something.  It's also pretty cute!  He doesn't call Reagan anything yet, but he was a special scream for her. :)

One of my most FAVORITE things that Landy (yes, we have started calling him Landy...I swore I wouldn't, but it's cute and fits him!) has started doing is giving Mommy kisses.  If I ask him for kisses he opens that sweet mouth so big and gives me the sweetest smooches.  He also gives me "love" when I ask for hugs and puts his head on my shoulder and snuggles me...keep in mind it lasts 2.2 seconds, but I'll take what I can get.  :)

Landon really doesn't like sleeping during the day too much at all.  He will USUALLY take a decent morning nap, about an hour to an hour to an hour and a half.  The afternoon nap is maybe an hour.  He seems to wake up at 2:30 on the nose everyday.  It doesn't matter if I put him down at 1 or 1:30, he is up at the same time.  Some days I can rock him a little longer and he'll sleep, other days I'll rock him, but he's wide awake.  SO we usually have plenty of playtime while sister is still snoozing away (most days!).

Our sweet shug is just the cutest little man and I could eat his cheeks to pieces.  We love him SO much and can NOT believe he is going to be ONE in a month!!  I am pretty thankful that I have an almost one year old right now and I'm not about to pop with a 10 pound 8 ounce baby this summer. ;)

Time to gear up for a "whale" of a good time for his first birthday!!

What a WEEK!!

Let me just say I'm SOOOOOOOOOO glad that it is this Monday and NOT last Monday....what a difference a week can make.

This was Wednesday maybe and not even CLOSE to the worst of it :(

Again, this looks like nothing compared to what he had

After going to the doctor with Landon last Monday everything kind of nose dived...he got blisters EVERYWHERE from this terrible virus.  Bless him.  It was so sad to hear his whining from him being uncomfortable and him not be able to tell me where it hurt...it broke my heart (and tested my patience).  I don't know that we slept much at all on Tuesday night, but then a little better on Wednesday night.  By Thursday he was COVERED, but they were starting to scab over and he was starting to act a little more like himself.  BUT, guess what?  Reagan spiked a fever on Thursday afternoon and was pitiful.  She fell asleep in our bed at about 6:00 watching Dora...this NEVER happens.  Thursday night her feet started itching and Friday night, oh my word...we didn't go to sleep until probably 4:30 am, literally.  Her feet were just itching the crap out of her.  I felt SO helpless and tried anything I could to sooth her, but was striking out big time.  I even had her in the bath at 4am to try to soak them?!  Saturday morning came and after two lovely hours of sleep we started the day.  I didn't take her to the doctor because I figured they would just say, "yup, it's hand, foot, and mouth...take tylenol and advil.  This just has to run its course."  SOO I went to sweet Evie's 1st Birthday party on Saturday and met up with some friends for ice cream.  By the time I got home all H%##  had broke loose.  Reagan didn't nap and it hurt her SOOO bad when she had to go to the bathroom.  This of course doesn't help that she wasn't even hardly drinking anything because her throat hurt so bad.  Finally, I told Keith I was taking her to the ER, scared she had a UTI.  WELL we actually found an urgent care that was open until 8, so we went there and had the NICEST doctor.  Reagan was pitiful...SO tired and just going crazy over her bumps and it hurting to go potty, but having to so badly.  Turns out the poor thing had a yeast infection too...ugh!  The doctor gave us an antibiotic for that and until we picked that up and got home it was after 10.  We were both VERY tired.  We laid in bed together and then her feet starting itching again...AHHH!  This is when I broke down into tears...I had had it, I can't imagine how both of the kids felt with this.  We did finally get some sleep and even slept in until about 8 on Sunday.  Yesterday was a little better...Reagan took a LONG nap, we're talking 1:00-6:30 when I went in to try to get her to eat some dinner.  She was back in bed by 9 and OUT!  Today she is feeling MUCH more herself, although not eating too much, but she is drinking, THANK GOD!  Landon was feeling much better by Friday too, which was a blessing.  He seemed to do better with it than Reagan, but MAN did he have it SOO MUCH WORSE!!

Before it hit this little miss!

Needless to say it was a LONG week, a yucky week, a terrible week.  I am SO thankful that my babies are feeling better and can't imagine one person in the world I would wish this upon.  It is just so awful, atleast it was for my kiddos.  We were supposed to leave this morning for a week long trip to Rochester to see Keith's family, but we decided to cancel just because a 12 hour car ride with 2 kids just getting over this gross-ness and running around with cousins all week really sounded a little crazy.  We are so bummed though. :(

I do really think that there is a reason our kid's get sick and it is so that we appreciate them that much more when they are healthy.  There are days I want to check myself into an insane assilame, but man would I take that ANY DAY over my sweet babies not feeling good!
