On Saturday, July 30th a SURPRISE party was planned for Keith. Oh.my.gosh...planning a surprise party for your husband is NO easy task, but it was a success!! Getting him out of the house turned out to be MUCH harder than expected!! The first plan was for golf, but then when we found out Keith's family was coming to visit he didn't want to leave his dad at home while he golfed (his dad doesn't golf.) SOO then we needed a plan B, whatever that was didn't pan out...FINALLY Kristin and I decided to have the guys go out to lunch and then to the casino for a little bit. I asked Keith earlier in the week if he wanted to maybe have my family over for a cook out on Saturday night to celebrate, so that's what he thought we were doing Saturday night. He was INSISTANT on stopping at Costco on the way home to get burgers for dinner and since he was going I told him to get some trash bags too :) They were to arrive home around 4:30 and weren't too far off from that for the big SURPRISE!! The weather couldn't have been hotter or rainy-er and the caterer was 35 minutes late, BUT it all worked out!!!
the cake!!
Nana came early and was on Maddie patrol while my other elves helped me set up!
the kids had a blast on the water slide!
those sweet blue eyes...and that lovely BLACK sky!!
Mike was moved to Maddie duty!
waiting for the birthday boy to arrive!
do you see these shirts?!?! Oh my gosh, they were amazing!! Keith's senior picture...Chris and Colleen's creation, hilarious!
this is NOTHING compared to what the playroom looked like by the end of the night...you couldn't even see the floor! Kiddos had themselves a good time!
sweet baby Emi!
SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!
(note the trash bags and strawberries!)
WHAT?! Totally clueless!! It was even a chore to get him to come in the FRONT door because we don't usually come in that way!
Look at these three in their blue ponies!
Chris, Shae, Keith, Dan, and Dave rockin' the "vintage" shirts! I am 99% sure it was DOWNPOURING at this point. Nothing like having 50 people in your house on a 99* day...THANKFULLY it cleared after we ate!
After the weather cleared it was time to test out those corn hole boards!
Love this sweet baby!
It was SUCH a great party! The weather wasn't ideal, but it worked. I was so happy to plan a big surprise for Keith...I can't believe he's 40!
...side note...
The night of the party little girl here hurt her foot somehow, no clue how, but all of a sudden the side of her foot her so badly that she couldn't walk on it and wanted to just lay in our bed. Miss out on a party?? Reagan?? WHAT? Clearly her foot HURT!! I gave her Tylenol and figured by the morning she'd be fine. She STILL wouldn't put any weight on it in the morning and that's when I got a little nervous and decided to Urgent Care we would go first thing. The doctor felt it, requested x-rays, all came back fine and told her just to rest and elevate. Someone didn't mind all the tv watching that her resting foot required, but by that night it was miraculously healed!
this is classic because at first she was smiling for the picture and then remembered she was bummed and her foot hurt, so put on this face ;)
